About the Research Program
The theme of Dr. Joukhadar’s work is centered on actionable science for growers. By testing solutions through rigorous, logical trials, the goal is to deliver clear, practical results that directly enhance productivity and profitability. Current research that is underway is on water conservation strategies, greenhouse specialty crop cultivation, mechanical harvest trials, and smart-irrigation field production.
This focus is critical for the unique challenges of the Southwestern U.S. How do we grow more with less water? How can we adapt to warmer temperatures? How do we cope with labor challenges? The research program is dedicated to finding these answers, providing New Mexico and regional growers with the innovations needed to thrive in an arid climate.
